Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Imagine meeting Cendrillon, the Caribbean Cinderella...spending time with the Algonquin Indians' Rough-Faced Girl...traveling to Greece with Hercules and Arachne...telling tales in Mexico with Quetzalcoatl the bird serpent... I teach reading to seventy-five fabulous fourth grade students at a Title I school in Compton, California. My students have been working hard all year to meet the rigorous California fourth grade reading standards. One major goal for our students involves comparing and contrasting imaginative literature from different cultures. The materials in my proposal - a collection of imaginative literature from many cultures and traditions - will provide my students with a meaningful learning experience as part of a several-week fairy tale unit that I am designing. The books and materials I have requested will also show my students that princesses, princes, kings, and queens come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. All seventy-five of our school's fourth graders will use this resource in class, and it will also be used for future classes. Your generosity will help us meet our goals and carry our classroom around the world! Thank you for your care and concern.
