Fairy Tales in 2nd Grade...Make Every Kid's Wish Come True!
My students need books that ignite their imaginations. Titles such as Cinder-Elly, Prince Cinders, and Bigfoot Cinderella will have them wishing for more!
My goal is to create a classroom of life long learners and dreamers. Students in my classroom start and end everyday with a book that intrigues them and leaves them wanting more.
Students in my classroom are eager to learn and love reading!
A large amount of students that attend my school come from low socioeconomic families. These families have worked hard to instill values and worth ethic in their children. However, they lack reading materials and home and many do not have experiences outside of their neighborhoods. They are diverse learners who want to learn about the world around them.
My Project
As part of the curriculum students in the 2nd grade are required to learn about fairy tales from diverse cultures. It is important to me not only to teach them about different cultures, and characteristics of a fairy tale, but show them that dreams can come true. With the help of these fairy tales and fractured fairy tales my students will become interested and use their imaginations to become a life long dreamer and reader. My students will use these books to spark their imaginations to create their own fairy tales on paper and in their own lives.
