My Students
My students are third graders from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some of their families come from other countries. My school is in a suburban neighborhood that serves a variety of economic levels.
A typical day in my classroom is jam-packed full of activities and learning.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
Fairy tales are about more than just happily ever after! They capture the imagination of readers, enhance their reading and writing skills, and teach them a moral lesson in the end.
These books include a multicultural aspect to the every day fairy tales that the students know. Inside are regular fairy tales and fractured fairy tales. Third-graders must be able to compare and contrast stories, characters and the lessons they teach, so having multiple versions of a story is perfect for this!
The books would help students learn reading skills and give inspiration for students to write their own fairy tales.
