My students need 5 fondue pots, a PancakeBot, bladeless table fan, 4 belgian waffle makers, sugar shockers game, soap molds, storage bins, SD iPad adapter, pencil sharpener, oven mitts, food games and paper plates.
My students are energetic, academic students who love to cook and help the school. They are eager to use technology in the classroom and to help make their lives easier. The students love to take skills they learn from core classes and apply them to real life projects posed to them in my classroom. The students are very creative and enjoy using problem-solving skills to create new food items and crafting items. Applying skills with technology and hands-on activities, makes learning come to life!
My Project
Our equipment in our Family Science classroom is starting to show its use. I am requesting 4 new blegian waffle makers with removable plates so we will be able to put them in the dishwasher unlike our current ones. I would also like to introduce the students to fondue so I would like to get 5 fondue pots with extra forks for the students to learn new recipes and try out this amazing appliance. The students also need new oven mitts since some of ours are getting holes in them. The PancakeBot will amaze all of the students. The students will make pancake batter and then they will be able to tell the PancakeBot what shape/design they want they want and it will pour the batter at the appropriate times to create that design - so fun! The bladeless fan will keep us all cool in our classroom without the chance of any students trying to touch the blades while it is on. The sugar shockers game and Menu Mash-up games will provide students some engaging fun while learning about nutrition topics. The soap molds will help some of my students that create soaps to get some new designs. The pencil sharpener will replace our current one that just decides to stop sharpening at the most random times. The SD card reader will allow us to upload photos right to our iPads that each of the students have. The paper plates will help us during our food labs when time is running short and the students wouldn't have time to actually wash regular dishes and to also share our creations with others in the building.
