Help me give my students Kitchenaid hand mixers for food labs, architectural scales and rulers for interior design, and a document camera to help them see how to do hand sewing demonstration for all to see!
Our school is a small school district located in Lincoln County, Missouri. There are 455 students enrolled at the high school and come from a diverse background and living situations. Almost half of students are enrolled in free in reduce lunch programs.
Students that walk into my classroom learn new skills when it comes to the variety of classes that I teach on a daily basis, helping them become independent members of society.
In order to keep up with the larger school districts, I am in need of updating items within my classroom with the help of the community.
My Project
In a Family & Consumer Sciences classroom, students are given the opportunity to create special projects related to the course that they are in. My kids are amazing and deserve the best.
Students in my classes are just as deserving of the equipment found in a larger school district.
Unfortunately, I am in need of some extra help.
I have chosen materials that are inexpensive versions of what is used at school districts with four high schools.
The rulers and architectural templates will help students examine materials and methods for residential construction and evaluate construction drawings for individual and family needs (NASAFACS Standards 11.4.6, 11.7.6, 11.4.2).
The hand mixers will help students demonstrate skill for a variety of cooking methods and demonstrate safe handling of knives, tools, and
equipment (NASAFACS Standard 8.5.2, 8.5.1)
The document camera will help students look at how to complete worksheets, help me demonstrate hand sewing techniques, and also help students with how to utilize the architectural templates and rulers.
