I am very excited to begin my 37th year of teaching and I want this year to be the best year yet!! I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with the same class again this year!!

From our year together in Grade 4, we learned that movement helps them focus and achieve their goals, as well as maintain a productive working environment for others.
My Project
I would love to be able to add some flexible seating options to help my students obtain and maintain the focus and concentration I know they are capable of achieving. I would love your help in making this dream a reality!
Flexible seating options will help meet the needs of different learners, so that we can have a very productive learning year!
Last year I implemented some basic flexible seating options. My school supplied a standing desk that allowed students to work productively while still channeling energy in a controlled manner to help maintain a productive environment for both themselves and other students. I also had bungee chairs that I found students worked exceptionally well simply due to a change in environment. I'm very excited to add to my seating options this year!
Flexible seating also fosters a "homey" feeling inside the classroom. This welcoming and comfortable atmospmhere allows for longer focus times, and increased willingness to participate. Further, allowing students to release energy throughout the day leads to fewer interruptions, longer concentration times, and improved academic achievement.
