In my classroom the students are always looking for something new and fun to read! Instead of them just reading to themselves they would love to have a story read to them and listen along! Their favorite part of the day is always read aloud time!
My students are a bunch of eager readers who love to listen to stories!
Our school is a small elementary school K-2 with a great group of students who come into school everyday with a smile ready to learn. My students love to sit, relax and enjoy a good book every day!
My Project
My students will get so many benefits from the listening center. The listening center gives children the opportunity to step inside a story while they listen and envision the characters and their story. Students in first grade really need to listen to reading to hear how reading should sound. By listening to the reader on the tapes they learn how to read with expression and many new vocabulary words! Hearing a book read on tape helps children see how the words on the page can come alive in a fluid, expressive way. It helps them focus on the sounds of words read without interruption and provides a model of fluent reading. Audio books also give the students an important introduction to listening — a skill that they must master in order to learn to read.
Many books on tape have interesting sound effects, music, and multiple narrators that are especially motivating and fun for young children!
These donations will improve my classroom by giving my students the opportunity to listen to stories while they use their imagination and let the story make a movie in their minds!
It will change my students lives for the better by giving them the opportunity to learn how to read by just simply "listening." This is a key factor in learning how to read with fluency and expression. They will enjoy every moment of this experience as they sit back, relax and enjoy these fascinating stories!
