Fabulous First Grade Learners

Help me give my students new headphones to use with their iPads to increase their skills on individual levels as it is difficult for them to focus when the room is noisy and they get distracted.

My Students

My students are like most 6 and 7 year old children; they are imaginative, love to be creative, use our classroom iPads whenever they can, and are excited to learn new things! It is an exciting year for them as they learn to read and to gain a love for reading! Math and science are our favorite parts of the day. It is so much fun to watch my students as they have a-ha moments during our math, science and writing lessons.

Reaching every learner in their own way and on their own level is my biggest goal this year.

I know that this school year is important to each and every student in my class. I have been focused on my curriculum, working to challenge my students on their own levels.

My cute students love coming to school and need to be taught in targeted ways more than ever! I feel the challenge to be able to help them as we are in unique and trying times as educators. I do feel fortunate to be teaching such a great group of kids in a wonderful community!

My Project

The items in my Donors Choose.org project will help my students on a daily basis. We use iPads every day in my classroom. By receiving new headphones for each student, they will be able to work more effectively. By having good headphones that fit properly, have good sound, and can be fixed by changing out the cords when needed, these headphones will be able to last a long time in my classroom. Being able to focus will help students make better progress and work faster.

First graders are easily distracted and have a difficult time focusing on their own work when they can hear other sounds around them.

This year our district is focusing on literacy and we are teaching a new reading program. I am printing many new resources in order to teach whole and small group instruction. Printer ink and paper is critical to help with the visual aspect of these lessons. I have also requested binders and plastic sleeves to organize flip books that students utilize during these lessons.

The STEM magnets will help kids discover and learn in science and on their own. We use markers for special writing projects. We specifically have one exciting assignment where my students write, illustrate and publish our own class book each spring. My class writes daily in their journals to develop their writing skills. They show the progress being made throughout the year in their handwriting and their sentence structure development.
