My students need some of the basic favorites like; "Harry Potter", "Percy Jackson" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", to help encourage their own independent reading. Thank you!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Joy of Reading! My students need books that they enjoy reading. To catch and maintain that Reading Bug, I need to first catch them. Many of my students are not interested in the limited titles I have in my library right now. Please help to fill our shelves with books that they enjoy reading.
The students' reading levels vary from 2nd grade to 6th grade.
They love reading book series like; Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Dork Diaries, A Series of Unfortunate Events and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Our school is a Title 1 school and many students do not get the chance to visit the public library very often. Your help would give them the opportunity to read the same books as other students in different communities.
My Project
These books will be used for independent reading time. Students read for 20 minutes during the school day and 30 minutes each night for homework. Many students go through their books within a few days and are always looking for more. Also, I have started a book club at our school and these books will encourage more students to join in our discussions.
Putting books into students hands that they are interested in, sparks the flame for becoming life-long readers.
These books are not provided by the school or the district and building a classroom library is our responsibility, as a teacher. Please help by adding to the our library with fun and interesting books students will love to read.
