My Students

Every child learns reading in a different way and at his or her own pace. My class of 25 students are reading at different levels. We need a classroom library that has engaging stories with challenging vocabulary and high-interest topics to help motivate my students to become readers. Also, having a better take home reading program will give my students that boost they need to become more confident readers.

My kindergarteners are enthusiastic learners.

We are a Title 1 school. Our population is culturally, ethnically, and socioeconomically very diverse. My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds with different needs. In addition to native English speakers, we also have students who speak limited English. Having a classroom library with entertaining books that teach challenging vocabulary words will give more children opportunities to listen, interact with, and practice reading skills essential to becoming accomplished readers.

My Project

Having a wider selection of Fancy Nancy books and Mo Willems books in our classroom library will help my students to become motivated and successful readers. I am hoping to provide my students with these engaging stories that have challenging vocabulary to improve their language skills. Mastering reading skills are essential for future success, not only at school, but in everyday life. These books will give each child more opportunities to practice these essential skills and to develop the confidence needed to become independent readers.

Adding engaging books, like Fancy Nancy books, to our class library will help my kindergartners succeed in school and become life long readers.
