This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imagine being in the 4th grade and reading on a 1st grade reading level. Unfortunately, that is the story for quite a few of my students. Fortunately, this year they have a teacher that believes in them and is going to bring out their inner superhero!
This year I have a very challenging but loving 4th grade class.
My students attend a public school in Washington D.C. They are surrounded by crime and violence. My students witness things that no child should ever witness. Our goal at our school is to create a positive learning environment where our students feel safe!
My Project
The endless list of very useful applications that are available on the iPad mini will benefit my students. Some students will need to be retaught a topic and using technology is another way to help the students understand. Also, many instructional games on the iPad mini will help my students fluency. The whisperphones will greatly benefit my students that are below grade level in reading. I would use the whisperphones during guided reading and during independent reading as well.
Having new resources will give my students the opportunity for new experiences that can make a positive impact on their learning.
I want to create an environment where my students take risks and try new things. When asked to read, a student of my can shut down. The whisperphone can give him a chance to read without being judged by others. For my student that has anxiety to answer a question incorrectly, the iPad can give him the opportunity to work on his own.
