My students need flutes for our after school beginning flute program!

Inquisitive, talented, extraordinaire, and creative; these are just some of the adjectives that describe my music students. My students have been successful this year in so many different ways. I am so proud of my students! My students are currently using the Recorder Karate Program, and many are practicing so diligently to earn their leveled recorder belts! As a general music teacher, I want to successfully introduce as many music concepts as possible, as well as provide my students with activities that promote complex problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and creativity! Leading global employers agree that by 2020 the third most important and in-demand skill will be creativity!
Bloom's Taxonomy list "Creating" at the very top of its framework for educational goals, and uses "composing a rhythm" as an example activity...interesting!
My students need activities and resources that will broaden their creativity and expand their musicianship!
“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.”
― Albert Einstein
My project will involve teaching beginning flute in our after school program. This year students are learning to play the recorder, singing in 2-parts, learning music theory, and coding music using Dash the Robot.
This after school flute program will provide a few students with an opportunity to expand upon their musicianship.
Students will learn about: instrument care, tuning the flute, posture, correct hand placement, embouchure, articulation, reading music, how to produce a tone, and how to play through the notes or intervals.
We will also devote quality time to listening to iconic jazz flute solos, and learning about great flutists!
Please help me to inspire the next generation of musicians!
