My Students

Located just outside of Center City Charlotte, our middle school campus sits between the Plaza Midwood and First Ward communities. This location gives our students walking access to a variety of community resources and allows us to truly meet our vision of using the community as our classroom.

Our students are creative, energetic, out-of-the-box thinkers who are eager to develop solutions to real problems facing their community.

They are inventors, artists, engineers, authors, scientists, and more. Many of our students struggled to find success in more traditional public school environments, so it's especially exciting to see our students' unique talents and passions emerge as they build confidence through real-world, hands-on learning experiences. Put simply, our students are amazing.

My Project

Albert Einstein famously said, “Creativity is contagious, pass it on”. With your help, we can live to the true meaning of what Albert Einstein said. This DonorsChoose was specifically created to give my art students the resources for creating a project that positively impacts our school community.

The main purpose of this project is to help beautify the Charlotte Lab community and to show others the wonders of what middle schoolers can do with their imagination and minds.

Students will be making murals, in our schools Math Lab and the Girls Bathroom. In addition to the school murals, we will add a mural to the outside of Cubesmart, which is a storage space right across from our school.

But, to be able to do this, we need supplies! Supplies being, painting supplies and a projector. The projector is crucial so the students will be able to project the images onto the walls. It will greatly help with measurements and aid in their designing process. My students are very passionate about creating something beautiful and they are eager to create an artistic piece of art so they can pass on their creativity!
