My students come from many different cultural backgrounds and socio-economic statuses. Our school is a Title I school that has limited funds. It is with others' help that these students are able to have those "extras" to help get them further in their education and a better life in the long run. Every day my kids are using learning stations in order to be more engaged in their learning. The kids work hard and deserve the best.
Despite the daily challenges they face, my students maintain a strong hunger to participate in creative and meaningful learning experiences.
The students in my class are compassionate and come to school every day eager and excited to learn. I love watching them learn and grow in so many ways!
My Project
In my class students build phonemic awareness, phonics, and basic reading skills. This is usually accomplished with whole group and small group instruction. Students can practice skills that were taught during whole group instruction with hands-on learning centers that will be purchased from Teacher Pay Teacher will be placed in binders. The resources that I am looking at purchasing is Tara Way’s literacy binders and other Orton Gillingham resources that will help my students.
Every student can learn to read, but all students don't learn the same way.
During whole group we will be using the pocket chart for the introduction of the letter of the day. We will be using the 10 frame to help students manipulate words. Also, with the line paper I will be demonstrating the correct why to print and cursive writing.
