My students need books that are high interest. Several of the books will help the students understand events that have happened and ongoing issues in today's society. Higher lexile books will push the kids as well.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
We are a Title One school. Title One money can go to math and language arts, but not extra activities. We are a very diverse population of lower to middle socioeconomic. Our students are 5th graders. The neighborhood they live in is made up of trailers that are about 40 years old, manufactured homes, and then there are some homes that are newer with 2 car garages. These students want to be successful and deserve nothing but the best in the educational endeavors.
Reading is the key to being a successful student! Many students don't enjoy reading or they will pick up a book because there are pictures in the book. They might even pick up a book because they like what is on the cover. Students need to be pushed to read books that are above their levels. They also need to pick books that will interest them.
High level books will help the students learn!
Some of the books in this collection are audio books as well. Some students are auditory learners and benefit from hearing the stories read to them. This will help them with their comprehension and help them follow along in the book.
These books will help the students become better readers.
