Help me give my students the automatic irrigation that we need in order to keep our school garden thriving! These drip line systems and seed starting materials will provide the foundation for a magnificent school garden.
My school is located in the heart of Oceanside, California. We are part of a large military community. These families typically relocate every three years to support their loved ones, and my kids are often unable to see a parent for months at a time.
As a result of this lifestyle and the example that their families have set for them, my students are incredibly resilient, responsible, and oftentimes mature beyond their years.
I'm very proud of their focus and dedication to their education, and I'd like to provide for them inquiry based learning experiences to further foster their love of school.
My Project
Last summer, our beautiful school garden died because it depended entirely on manual watering. With the addition of automatic irrigation, we will be able to reliably hydrate our plants and maintain soil health. We need Drip Irrigation Kits, tubing, fertilizer and a seed starter mix.
Once irrigation is installed, students will be able to use, participate in, and learn from our garden throughout every season!
We will be able to propagate and grow both cool and warm season plants in this sustainable garden environment.
Our school garden will provide multifarious opportunities for nutrition education, environmental awareness, STEM learning, and interdisciplinary studies in art, writing, and research. Garden education can be applied to standards at every grade level. All children at our school will benefit from this gift.
