I have the great joy of teaching Pre-K in a Title I school in Queens, New York. Queens is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse places in the world and my class certainly reflects this. Most students are English Language Learners and many families struggle economically. My greatest joy is watching these precious 4 year olds transform from shy, scared children into inquisitive, confident students ready to take on the world!
"Look what I did!" are the proud words I hear everyday as my students explore and play.
Since our program emphasizes learning thorough play, it is important that we have the materials necessary to spark the curiosity and imagination of each child. We learn by doing and boy do they "do." We explore sand, water, light. We take on roles of "firefighter", "police officer" and "Dad". Little do they know that embedded in the play activities are foundational skills that will help our children learn not just academics, but important social/emotional skills. Please help our children be the best that they can be!
My Project
Playing is important in the life of a child. It teaches them creativity, how to get along with others, and how the world works. I am requesting materials for dramatic play to incorporate it into our day.
Each set of dramatic play clothing and play materials will help them better interact with each other and learn how to interact with the world!

Our dramatic play center encourages our English Language Learners to develop language skills, social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, manners, and learn about community helpers!
