Our school and students work independently and collaboratively in an inquiry-based learning environment that encourages finding creative solutions to authentic and complex problems. Our partnership with parents and the community provides a supportive environment with high academic standards dedicated to maximizing critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration in the process of solving real-world problems.
Although we teach in a middle-class area, we do encompass a large apartment complex and have a wide array of student needs and abilities.
We pride ourselves on creating an environment in which all students, regardless of their background, abilities, etc. can find success in some way.
The CS Makerspace will be an environment in which ALL students regardless of their age or academic level can find success! The Makerspace is an engineering lab which fosters science inquiry and discovery. We focus on the Engineering Design Process which includes the steps; Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create and Improve. The tools and shelving will allow the materials that have been generously donated to be utilized in a way which foster curiosity and imagination. Students will be able to us the lab with their class and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Specialist to explore problems in the real world and design their very own solutions while taking the steps provided through the implementation of the Engineering Design Process.
