My students need Wobble Chairs for their centers. Some students have rocken back in forth in stools and regular chairs and struggle to sit still. Some students need them to concentrate in class.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a Title I school in Orlando, Florida. Our area is a high poverty area, but my students don't let that stop them from trying their hardest to be the best they can be. My students come to school and sometimes feel that this is the only safe place for them to be. My class is filled with many first generation American students and some are the only ones that speak English in their family. Our school is on 100% free lunch and some students receive their daily three square meals from the school.
My Project
This project will allow my students to have flexible seating around the classroom.
Students that struggle with sitting in a regular chair and concentrate will now be given the opportunity to sit in a seat that is made for them to fidget. When students are given the opportunity to move around they will be able to complete their work and focus.
Students when given the opportunity to feel comfortable are more likely to accomplish more. If you ask any student which choice would the make between sitting in a regular chair and a wobble chair the will most likely choose the wobble chair.
