Extra Yard - AutoZone Liberty Bowl Teacher of the Week

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are dynamic, tech savvy and eager to learn. Our school is one of the most diverse schools in our district and the students are ready to be engaged to the learning process.
Due to a unique district merger in our school system, my school is located in a suburb of a major city, but, very few of our students live in the municipality.
Nearly 90% of our students are bused in from the neighboring city as a result. We also are an open transfer school that allows students from across the county to attend for our award winning programs in international studies, TV production and athletics.
One of our strongest programs is our ESL (English as a Second Language) program. I have students from all over the world including Latin America, Africa and the Middle East who are seeking a better opportunity in our community. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve their ability to communicate and be successful in the classroom.
With increasing emphasis on standardized testing, teachers at my school are looking for improved strategies to improve students' abilities to comprehend multiple choice questions and increase their reading comprehension.

My Project
Theses materials will help my classroom meet the expanded requirements by the local school board. Supplies such as paper, paper towels, poster boards are essential to complete PBOs, Word Walls, etc. Having additional money for supplies for the classroom such as pens and markers is essential in this day and time. Students are constantly coming to the classroom without materials.
