This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low-income/high-poverty school district. Every student in my Pre-k to 8th-grade school receives free breakfast and lunch. Many students are English language learners and special education students. My 5th graders face many challenges once they step out of my classroom every day​. While at school, I want my students to feel like it is another home. If they feel like this, they will want to come to class.

My students are eager to learn and need my support and encouragement.

My students do not have access to many resources that would increase their success in school. They need resources to expand their knowledge and know that there is more to the world than their little neighborhood.

They are enjoying learning about the world outside of their community through reading and technology.

My Project

Our printer will need some new ink cartridges in order to make it until June. Sadly, one of our staplers no longer works and we do so many projects that we need more than one stapler. We also struggle with how to keep our pencils sharpened every day, so having an electric pencil sharpener in our classroom will be helpful.

Having extra supplies in our classroom will help everyone to have the materials they need when they need them.

My students struggle already with having so little. I want them to have more than enough materials to help them with their education. They deserve to have what they need.
