I will be beginning my first full year of teaching in 1st grade! I am so excited to finally get to fulfill my lifelong dream of having my own classroom and getting to teach little ones. I teach in an urban district. Many of my students have suffered trauma, tragedy, and poverty. I want to create a classroom where they feel comfortable and loved.
A well-run classroom thrives in structure and routine.
Routine and structure provides my students with a place where they always know what is expected of them and they understand how to be a student. this allows us to learn as much as possible throughout the day. It is critical that my students have a comfortable and safe place where they can strive as learners and people.
My Project
Read all about it! My students have great imaginations that requiring being fostered by a library filled with books that challenge them and interest them. The books that I have in this project will help me build my library in my classroom and will make it become a place where my students want to go to read.
Books that kids enjoy foster imagination, creativity, and intelligence.
I plan on using these books in several different capacities. They will be used as read alouds, independent reading, and during guided reading to build skills that will help my first graders become the best readers they can be. These books will reach a variety of different readers and learners. I know my students will love getting to read these books.
