I work at a Title I school in an inner city district in the heart of Pennsylvania. I have been fortunate enough to work with these students for the past two years, looping with them from 3rd to fourth grade. Each students brings so much light into my life and have taught me so much about myself. Working in this type of climate is not always easy but, it has always been worth it!
I am lucky enough to have a classroom full of diverse students from all types of backgrounds.I have students who are refugees from Nepal, many Hispanic students, and African American students as well.
They are my heart and soul. I strive to provide culturally relevant materials to help my students succeed in school and in life.
By utilizing Scholastic News that includes real-world applications and stories, students become more engaged. It has become a goal of mine to educate my students about what is happening in the world around them. Using a news source that is written at a level that kids can understand has been a powerful resource in supplementing my teaching. Not only that but, my students LOVE it!
Scholastic News is such a valuable resource that can reach all levels of abilities!
I have been using this resource for the past year and have noticed an increase in my students curiosity and reading abilities. This resource allows them to be engaged with the world around them.
