Extra! Extra! We Need School Supplies and Comfortable Seating
Help me give my students school supplies that will be used during small group counseling sessions. My students need comfortable seating, colored pencils, ballpoint pens, Poster Board Paper, construction paper, pencils and pencil sharpeners.

My Students
I love my students. They are packed full of personality, passion and purpose. A majority of the students that I service are students who come from homes where they are economically disenfranchised and are unable to purchase supplemental supplies and materials as needed. A large number of the students that I work with recently immigrated into the United States and are extremely shy and withdrawn in the first few years of arrival. Our students are very eager to learn and respond eagerly to instruction/counseling support that is engaging and fun.
My Project
My students will be using the basic classroom supplies to participate and complete group counseling session assignments and character education lessons. A lot of the lessons are interactive and require students to write or draw about their feelings or emotions depending on the topic. Recently, my students had a lesson that involved creating charts in small groups - unfortunately we did not have enough supplies to go around and had to modify the activity considerably. We will also be using the needed supplies to complete character education assignments. We will also need comfortable seating for students as they visit the counseling office. The chairs that we currently have in the counseling are very old and dated. It is important that we have a comfortable, welcoming environment where students would want to come in and discuss mental health issues.
Unfortunately, my students are still recovering from the devastation left behind after Hurricane Harvey.
Some of our student families had small family businesses that we not able to recover form the flooding left behind from Hurricane Harvey. I am grateful to work in a district that supports character education and mental heath for all students.
