My Students

Our community school district is a small, rural town of 4,400 with 43% low-income students. We are a Title I school. I am fortunate to teach for over 20 years in the district where I was once a student! Our wonderful, curious students are amazing ambassadors of the future.

Our classrooms are places of active engagement for our awesome students and faculty members.

Having an array of personalities and academic strengths and weaknesses keeps my teaching exciting and challenging. We constantly strive to make our classrooms inviting places to explore, create, and share through a variety of projects.

My Project

One of the best ways to teach about history is through rich literature. Picture books bring history to life and helps me address difficult concepts in age-appropriate ways. When my students participate in their field trip to Springfield, IL they will have a better understanding of and appreciation for classroom concepts. Help me give my students this class sets of books to help with fluency, comprehension and a better understanding of the history standards.

I want to help my students learn more about our 16th president.

Abraham Lincoln was the leader of the U.S. during a difficult period. He was a self-educated man who went on to become a lawyer and a father. This book ties directly into the Springfield field trip by increasing knowledge foundation, promoting further learning and higher level thinking strategies. Thank you for your support!
