Help me give my students the chance to hold a magazine in their hands and read printed words. Digital media is great, but the feel of a page between your fingers is incredible.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

What makes my students special? Everything about them. They are our future teachers, doctors, nurses, police officers, journalists, entrepreneurs, race care drivers, artists, dancers, actors, preachers, and super heroes. They are only 5 or 6 years old, so of course they change their minds often about what they want to be when they grow up, but one thing remains consistent. They are always SUPERSTARS. The world is wide open to them. They see possibilities.
Wealthy through imagination and hope in a 100% free breakfast and lunch school, my students know that our classroom is a place where they can learn, be safe, and chase their dreams.
I wish that the only limit to their potential was their own imagination, but sadly funding is not always there to support them.
This project will promote literacy and parent involvement.
It will give students a chance to step away from technology and read an actual magazine.
It also gives the students something printed every week that they can take home and read with their parents.
Remember your days as a child. Maybe you read the newspaper with a parent, even if it was just the comics page! Perhaps you liked comic books and had a collection. Maybe you were a fan of Highlights magazine and waited anxiously for the mailman to deliver it into your eager hands. You might have been a fan of Ranger Rick. No matter your preference, I bet that you can still recall the feeling of turning the pages of a newspaper or magazine. I want my students to be able to have that experience.
