This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are on the brink of graduation when I meet them. They are so excited to get out in the real world but they also need some direction. I teach them skills they can use long after they receive their diploma.

My students are very inquisitive about personal finance and economics.

They have so many questions about investing, college funding, how to buy a car and much more.

I teach in a lower socioeconomic school and many of my students love coming to school but often do not have the guidance at home to ensure that they will succeed.

My Project

My Economics students are on the cusp their high school graduation. They are so involved in their senior lives: prom, football games, band competitions, etc. that they often don't see what is happening in the United States and the world.

The subscription to Upfront Magazine will enable them to learn firsthand what is happening beyond their high school world.

The subscription comes with lessons for each article and the 35 subscriptions would provide my classroom with a class set of the monthly magazine. I will incorporate the lessons provided and allow the students to read an unbiased source for current events.
