Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a school that services students who come from low income, working-class families that live in or close to one of Los Angeles' low income housing complexes.
My students are some of the most creative 1st graders you will ever meet.
They are smart, enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning and listening to stories read to them. They love to come to school to absorb as much knowledge as possible to help them prepare for their future.
My Project
My students need a subscription to Scholastic News Magazine. These small magazines are wonderful tools to help teach my students a huge variety of topics through out the school year. If we receive this subscription, my students will receive a magazine every week that will cover topics like holidays, politics, worlds leaders and so many more. The magazines provide an explanation of these topics at my students level and with bright colorful and vivid pictures to maintain my students attention through out the lessons. I will incorporate these magazine lessons during different subject areas like, Social Studies, Science and English Language Development.
