Second grade is such a wonderful grade. Students show so much growth throughout the year.
My students come to 2nd grade as beginner readers and are encouraged to find books that they love and enjoy thus growing their ability to read and broadening their interests.
I love to watch a second grader find books that they enjoy. How can I do that? By exposing them to as many books as I possibly can in the short time that I have them.
My Project
These fiction and non-fiction books already have lessons built around them, we need your help to purchase the books. Each book's lesson has vocabulary and grammar practice, question cards for deeper thinking, comprehension quiz, and a different reading skill that will be in practice all week.
There is a fun craft and drawing I have planned for the students to complete each week for each book.
A Visitor for Bear (Bear and Mouse), The Invisible Boy and Henry's Freedom Box: A True Story from the Underground Railroad are fun and entertaining for a second grader and cover so many interest levels, no student will be left out.
By donating to our project, you are encouraging fun and engaging learning with just a book.
