My students need authentic, high interest magazines to deepen their engagement and understanding of nonfiction text. We need Scholastic and Time magazines.
Remember how much anticipation surrounded the first day of school when you were younger? That is how my students feel as summer turns into back to school season.
My students have always loved calling my classroom their home.
I strive to create an environment that is organized, comfortable and beautiful. Last year, a part walked into my room and said she could describe it in one word, "Love".
My students will become independent learners this year. We will spend many hours traveling our world through the pages of books. We will experiment and explore our world in science. We will learn about our world through social studies and solve problems through math. My students will plan and create in our Makerspace as they tackle STEM challenges.
My joy and goal is to create lifelong learners. My goal is for my students to leave my classroom at the end of the year knowing how wonderful they are and experiencing how hard work can always get them closer to their dreams.
My Project
I'm requesting 12 copies of each high interest magazine so my students can read them with a buddy weekly. We will utilize these magazines weekly at the teacher table to practice comprehension strategies as well as in stations. I know my students will look forward to each coming issue!
These magazines will make the most dormant reader come alive!
Their vibrant photographs and engaging topics quickly capture the hearts (and brains!) of all learners.
Scholastic News is a good blend between social studies, current events and fiction/poetry. Time for Kids Magazine comes with additional online resources to enhance further learning.
