My Students
I have the best class in the world! Our classroom is very diverse and full of personalities. One of my favorite things is that while I am teaching them in English, I get the opportunity to learn Spanish from them. We have a great time learning from each other, making it more of a mutual learning relationship.
Over 60 percent of my students have English as their second language. Because their English is at the beginning stages of learning, they need intensive support.
My Project
I chose books that are at appropriate levels for my students that will also interest them. I selected books that cover science material because that is a big push in our school. I chose books that will give my students exposure to fiction, non-fiction, and comic book texts.
I need level A-E books to provide a range of reading opportunities for my students needing that extra push. Many of my students entered my class reading well below grade level. I want to do my part to help them meet state goals and personal goals. These books will allow me to support my students on their level and teach them as individuals.
