My favorite quote is "They don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care" by Theodore Roosevelt. My goal is have my students understand they are able, capable and believed in. Having the opportunity to show my students I value and care about their education, builds bridges of trust.
Our school is located in Bay Ridge Brooklyn.
The population of students that I teacher are students with special needs. My students are not on grade level for reading, writing and math and are diagnosed with multiple and varied disabilities. Having the ability to know they are fed, full and ready for the day, will truly help in their educational success.
My students come to school thinking it is a task and not something worth their while. I want to give them the tools they need to feel successful and realize they are and can be more than they think.
My Project
Many of my students read below grade level and you’re not fine book enjoyable. I want to bring the joy of reading back to my students and show them that they can find books enjoy, while still reading on their level and gaining skills to become better and more independent readers. Many of my students want to be independent learners, I have not yet mastered enough skills to do so successfully, So having centers, a variety of books to look at and read and feeling pride, will truly help my students become more confident, independent and skilled readers for life!
