This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In this day and age, students should be able to take their published papers home, except our school has limitations on the copies we make. A printer/scanner/copier is a basic commodity in the classroom. It will serve many purposes such as publishing student work so they can share their work at home.
My students are 1st graders and eager to learn.
They are English Language Learners from low-income households. Our school is a public school located in the East San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles. All of our students qualify for free meals. We are Title I and PHBAO. We were a Performance Improvement 2 School, but we were able to get to “Safe Harbor” this year.
Most of my students struggle to learn. To ease this struggle, a copier/scanner/printer will help with papers that reinforce what is taught in class. It will also help them to start the path of a good education.
My Project
As you know, “practice makes perfect”. Having a copier in my classroom would be a great asset. This project will enhance the classroom lessons as well as provide enrichment opportunities for my students. It will enable me to provide follow-up activities, homework assignments, and be able to receive scaffold handouts and other important documents at a moment’s notice. At this early age, the more students see the printed words, the faster they remember them.
Having a printer/copier/scanner in the classroom will save endless amounts of time dealing with broken machines, no toner, and the limitations of copies.
Through your generous donations, it will enhance student’s learning by allowing them to take papers home to share with families and it will also save valuable teacher-student time.
