Who doesn't love the feel of a new piece of technology? iPads and wireless microphones are the way of the future when it comes to creating digital video projects such as our School News Show. Our student run news team looks forward to producing and broadcasting important information school-wide.
We are located in a rural area in Florida.
We are a Title 1 community school where all students receive free lunch due to our large percentage of economically disadvantaged students. Most of these students have not had the opportunity to utilize new forms of technology to enhance their learning. Our news team works together to model the CRANE attributes for all students in the school via transmission of their show. These attributes are:
Our team of students produces a daily news show in our production studio. These iPads and microphones will be used to create and produce videos in the conjunction with the Mac computer they will use for editing. They will learn to become leaders in the school as they acquire the skills needed to use technology in order to share pertinent information to all of our students. They will develop leadership skills through working together to write scripts on the iPad, recording and editing videos, and allowing other students to see their hard work on display via the broadcast.
Academic learning is only one facet of our school environment.
Our students need enrichment opportunities, such as the digitally created morning news, to develop their skill sets beyond traditional classroom learning. This project will enable these young leaders, our future, to help make our news show a success. They will further their abilities to communicate effectively with others and be a team player while integrating technology skills by using the iPads, microphones, and editing software.
