Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have worked at my school for 18 years and continue to be inspired by the enthusiasm and drive my students to bring to class every day. My students are enthusiastic learners, ready to be challenged. They bring so much positive energy into the classroom, which pushes me to do more for them. Though many are from a low socioeconomic community, they enjoy learning and setting goals.

Many of our students are children of immigrant parents who have limited education but value their child's education.

My students are always up for the challenge and ready to explore new ideas. Many of them have such impressive goals, and it makes me proud that they begin to think about their future at such a young age. My students want to further their education and pursue careers that will hopefully positively impact our lives.

My Project

Students are finally at school, where they should be, but it is not the same. Restrictions and safety measures are in place to keep our students safe. I would like to equip my students not only with textbooks. I would love for them to have different art mediums to do art lessons in class.

It is important to integrate the arts into our lessons, and allow our students to express themselves through art.

Lessons are more meaningful and fun when art is integrated. I want to integrate art in all the other subjects, such as in science, English/Spanish language arts, social studies and when learning about diversity and Inclusion. I would also like to take some time during the week to allow students to express what they are feeling through art during this Coronavirus Pandemic.
