My Project

My students are a diverse group of English Learners. They are unique and special in how they empathize with one another and learn to communicate, despite their language barriers. Many of my students developed a passion for art during the COVID-19 lockdown, and learned to communicate online using pictures when they were unable to find the right words.

Donating to our project will allow students to cultivate their passion for art by recording themselves via video and creating digital works of art that will teach them how to communicate, while allowing them to share about themselves and their experiences.

At home, many of my students do not have the opportunity to develop their skills digitally due to monetary concerns. The iPad and Apple Pencil, folio, and screen protector will provide them a rare opportunity to present and grow their language acquisition skills in a meaningful and fulfilling way. As we transition to using more technology in class, this project will allow students to continue creating projects as part of our daily curriculum with the added benefit of engaging with technology.
