Expression Through Play!

Help me give my students a play therapy room! Students need a place where they feel safe, comfortable, and on their level.

My Project

Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Play therapy utilizes play, children's natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words.

The primary goal of play therapy is to help children who might struggle with expressing themselves or their emotions to express themselves through play.

Students can benefit from light covers to protect them from sensory overload from harsh fluorescent lighting, and a couch cover that can be easily washed and sanitized. They also can benefit from manipulatives such as play doh and a water writing pad.

Play therapy is particularly beneficial for students who struggle with communicating and expressing themselves in a positive and healthy manner.

Children who have been abused or experienced extremely traumatic or stressful events might benefit from play therapy to regain a sense of normalcy in their lives. Children with certain disorders which hamper their emotional and social expressions typically benefit greatly from play therapy.
