Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My passion for life long learning is something I try to model for my students as often as I can. Whether I tell them about a new book I’m reading to learn about teaching them math concepts in a different way or online webinars I saw to get ideas for new and engaging reading centers I’m always sharing that I’m always learning.
I want them to want to continue learning in all areas long after they’ve spent their Kindergarten year with me.
Sharing what I learn through this visual arts curriculum is another way to ignite future learning.
My Project
I am requesting this art curriculum to help me teach my students literacy in the visual arts.
So much can be gained through an arts curriculum and I want my students to be well rounded individuals.
I want them to not only enjoy making art but to also be able to meet the standards of engaging in an authentic creative process through the use of traditional and non-traditional materials and applying the formal elements of art and principles of design; knowing an arts language to describe art; and discovering the expressive qualities of art to be able to reflect, critique, and connect personal experience to art.
