Expressing Oneself in 5th Grade

My Students

My students are amazing. My students love to get involved in activities, whether they are big or small. They get excited with anything new that I bring into the classroom.

As a teacher, fifth grade is an amazing age to teach students.

The majority of my students come from low-income families, but they don't let that stop them in any way. Our school has 53% that receive free or reduced lunch. They look forward to anything they can do in the future. Anything they can try to achieve they will do anything.

My Project

Something that I have noticed since Covid started almost 2 years ago is that students have a hard time expressing themselves in normal settings. Students have a hard time also with interacting with other kids their age. Many times students had to be either quarantined or they did home school and because of this they struggled socially.

Since Covid started, the majority of my students love to express themselves through art.

Some love to draw while others love to color. The journals, markers and coloring books will help with just that. Others love to express themselves with playing games. I love to see students open up while playing games.
