Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students explore, connect, and create! They are motivated by hands on projects that provide them an alternative means to express their ideas. They overcome unique challenges each day to persevere and make progress toward their goals. I am honored to come alongside them to support their academic and social emotional needs. They deserve every opportunity to reach their full potential.
"It's what you've done with your time, how you've chosen to spend your days, and whom you've touched this year-that to me, is the greatest measure of success." R.J.

Our families struggle in the hardships of a Title One school in Arizona. We have a diverse community with deep needs for resources, acceptance, and positive relationships. Our school is known as a "Be Kind" campus where the strengths of ALL students are celebrated. Teachers, leadership, and community members collaborate to give our students an environment that prepares them for high school and beyond. We believe in positive behavior interventions, small group instruction, universal accommodations, technology integration, and data driven instructional strategies to meet the needs of our students. I support the most amazing group of achievers in the most incredible place to teach!
My Project
I chose to have canvases, easels, paint, pallets, brushes, and The Dot book for my project because one of our school wide goals this year is community partnership. I have worked with my students to bridge gaps between home and school. We keep lines of communication open and I share valuable resources to promote progress of goals. Students with diverse needs may struggle with appropriate social skills and expressing their understanding. Parents and Caregivers face challenges helping their students stay motivated to learn and form peer relationships.
By donating to this project, you will not only help improve and increase community partnership within our school, you will ultimately help to increase overall academic performance of ALL student abilities.
Students and families will be invited to a fun workshop of literary expression. Together, they will enjoy a read aloud of the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. They will then have the opportunity to paint their own canvases based on the connections they gained from the book. Each person will take home their canvas, and lasting memories of positive school interactions!
