Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work with high school-aged students with varying levels of specials needs and learning disabilities. Literally EVERYTHING about my students makes each one special in his/her own right.

I love that each of my students is usually willing to learn new things.

I love that each relishes their turn at being the leader in the classroom.

I ask each student to keep a journal, which I have provided, and we start each class with 15 mins of "journaling". I have found that most love to express themselves very colorfully through drawings!

My Project

Thank you for your interest in my project request. I am hoping that if, better yet, when, my new project is fully funded, it will help me to allow my special needs H. S. students to use the supplies to make their journal booklet entry drawings into large-sized works of art, to help express their feeling and emotion,s and maybe have items of their very own they may take home and post on their walls to hopefully have forever. They will use the paint, canvas, brushes, paper and other art supplies, to help them express their feelings through art and as a means to assist them with calm down techniques.
