Express Yourself ! Let the World Know Who You Are!
Help me give my students materials to complete their individual projects for our learning unit called Express Yourself! by providing a 15 Piece Rhythm set, Building Bricks, and art materials.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from low income families. They may not have the resources other schools have to enrich their learning, but they still have very colorful and inventive minds. They are beginning to show an eagerness to explore the world.
They are beginning to express their independence and develop a love of learning.
They are an active group of girls and boys who greet me every day with smiles and lots of excitement about what the day's lessons will be. They show eagerness to learn new topics in Science and Social Studies.
My Project
The art and music materials will be used to create something of their own. The students are learning about how different cultures express themselves. Using class library books and computers they began learning about different cultures around the world. We began learning about customs and traditions in different countries. Students compared their own family traditions with kids from other cultures.
These materials will help create a class of self discovery for kids.
I have worked to create an environment in our classroom in which everyone is important and has a special talent. Each child will express himself or herself using art or music. The children will be completing a self expression activity using materials donated.
