Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students all have the ability to learn and achieve. They come to school each day with the expectation to learn something new. I am determined to help them grow personally and academically.

Our families struggle financially, making it difficult to acquire many of the educational materials students require to be successful learners.

We do our absolute best to provide various learning opportunities to make sure each student's need is met. I'm honored to be apart of their learning process!

My Project

I have many students who lack the background knowledge needed comprehend the various topics we read about in class. Using the weekly articles from Scholastic News and Time for Kids in my classroom, during guided reading and/or at-home-learning, will allow me to expose my students to variety of topics each week.

These magazines will bring exposure to my students.

The information my students will gain from reading the articles will develop their schema for academic discussions, evidence in writing, and assessments. Each week Scholastic News and Time for Kids provide students with practice using stratigies for reading comprehansion with current and engaging news articles.
