This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our reading team services about 150 students yearly in a K-5 Title I Elementary School. Our students have a diverse set of needs and require various differentiated instruction. In our curriculum, we focus our instruction on building the foundational skills of segmenting, blending and encoding words. This supports the science of reading. A dry erase table for each reading classroom, would allow us to quickly assess student's understanding of what is being taught. It will also encourage them to participate in real time. We can also offer directed support and feedback to each student.

Each small group session is only thirty minutes, so this will maximize our instructional time.

We can arrive in the classroom and begin promptly without worrying about gathering materials. Reading requires us to be engaged with the text. Students can represent their work using different colors, have an individual skill they are "attacking" and have the flexibility to make changes with ease.
