Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love my 3rd grade students because they are eager to learn and explore with me. My school year has been rewarding so far because of these students. They are showing me that children want to learn everything they can to be part of the bigger world. I want to teach my students everything they need to know to be successful people in their communities.
My classroom is full of learners that are ready to conquer the world!
I know now that I need to get them to express and communicate their thinking better. Also, I want my students to know that the world is big and full of all different kinds of people and things. Students always find it hard to understand that the world is bigger then their block.
My Project
The art materials (canvases, brushes and pastel colors) that I am requesting will help my students’ learning by having them get to know themselves first with art. Students will summarize the details in a visual art text and justify their descriptions with evidence. Also, my students will write an explanatory text to describe and summarize the main ideas and details in their visual art text.
Learning about artists with Latin background and poetry background will allow them to dive into the lesson of “Who am I?”.
This lesson creates an opportunity for the student to think about who they are and how they represent themselves. I love to start off my school year by exploring and learning about who my students are. I will be displaying their canvas artwork all year to remind them of who they are or even who they can be.
