Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Kindergarten at a public Title I school in Texas. My students are always ecstatic to come to school and eager to learn something new every day. They love to do hands-on activities, engage in class discussions, discuss book talks and be problem-solvers. My goal as their teacher is to instill a love of learning through books and meaningful lessons.
Most of my students are English language learners and many of them come from low-income households.
Even though this may impact their home life, I do my best to make sure it does not affect their lives at school. This can be very difficult with limited access to resources, which is why your help is so important.
My Project
These sets of magnets will allow my students to experiment and determine how magnetic fields differ between various types of magnets. My students are so curious and love to explore science with hands-on objects. We only have a few magnets and I would love for each of my students to have one to explore with. We also conduct an experiment with little toy cars.
By manipulating magnets, they will also be able to discover how magnets attract and repel.
Being able to study magnets creates a sense of enthusiasm and sparks a sense of curiosity children need to learn. I know my students will be amazed as they observe that magnets can push and pull metal objects even though they are not touching.
