This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My amazing students are English learners in a very low income area. They enjoy playing with each other, but do not have the opportunity to experience toys that many people purchase for their children to encourage the love of science. The children are between 7 and 10 years old. I have 14 boys and 11 girls.

When my students arrived for open house they all said that they loved to read and enjoyed math.

I want them to love science. I want them to explore and enjoy science.

My Project

Our school has 1 science kit to share with 5 third grade classrooms. The children will be able to use the magnets on daily. Science is a standard that my students need to master this year to pass the state testing. Without hands on science materials it will a difficult task for my students.

The magnets will teach the students about science and geometry.

Both of these are learning outcomes that I want my students to master my the end of 3rd grade. Building with magnet tiles will allow my students to experience science and math on a daily basis. This will encourage them to meet the state standards and to love science.
