Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 23 curious first grade students. Most of my students receive a free or reduced school lunch. I also have 7 English Learners. My students want to learn in a fun and engaging classroom that uses technology and flexible seating. This school year is their first year that they will be in a full day class setting. My students love art, music and they love moving to Go Noodle. They take pride in their work displayed throughout the classroom.

My Project

The iPad will make a difference in my students learning by letting them work on a variety of concepts in educational apps that will enhance their learning. Students will be able to work on improving their fluency in math and play engaging math games. Students will also work on LEXIA (a phonics program that my district has purchased) to improve their reading skills. My student will also be using the iPad for QR codes in science and social studies. Students will be able to record themselves presenting and reading texts for their parents for Open House. My student will take pictures of their work and of themselves in the classroom environment.

My project will improve the school lives of my student by motivating them with technology to learn and have fun at the same time.

The students that are in my class love working with iPads and I currently only have 12 in my classroom. The more iPads I can get donated will allow more students access to use them throughout the day.
