My Students

I teach Language Arts in a very small, rural high school of around 90 students total. One of the electives that I teach is Mythology, which has been a wonderful way to introduce my students to different cultures around the world.

My students are fairly sheltered in their small community but are incredibly curious about the world and other cultures' mythologies.

These books will help my students learn about West African Mythology in an engaging and exciting way and will hopefully foster their curiousity about the world.

My Project

The students in my Mythology class are curious and eager to learn about other cultures and their mythology. In order to break away from the typical Greek and Roman Mythology I would like to purchase copies of Children of Blood and Bone to accompany our unit on West African Mythology.

These novels will help bring the mythos of West Africa to life and will introduce my students to a new culture.

This will be an engaging and interesting way to have my students learn and interact with West African Mythology. My hope is to foster their natural curiosity about the world and increase their love of reading as well!
