My students need a Digital Microscope, Matter Activity Tub, Matter Book Library, and Sink or Float Exploration Kit that will enhance our study of water based on the Virginia Standards of Learning.
I teach 1st grade in a low-income, rural area of southern Virginia. 1st graders are still excited about learning and are justifiably awed about the wonders of the world in which we live.
The Virginia Science Standards of Learning require that I teach these 1st graders about the concepts of: sinking/floating, water in its various states of matter, the importance of water to animals/plants/humans, and what will or won't mix/dissolve in water. Yet I have no hands-on equipment with which to teach these concepts.
The resources I am asking for would provide the hands-on experiences that my 1st graders need in order to stay excited about science and allow them to really "explore" water.
Your donation will make it possible for me to begin to build a collection of science tools in my classroom so that science will be what it should be - exploration!
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
